“Waking up Singing”
Every time Makenzie hears this song she begins to instantly sing along.
Even from a dead sleep, she wakes up singing.
This was in the truck on our way home from camping on July 5, 2010.
We spent the weekend up at the Brown’s property, then took the trailer over to the cabin for the rest of the summer.
We had a really crazy 4th this year. Started with a Baseball tournament with Chase in Orem and Park City. Then moved onto Beaver Creek with the Brown’s. We spent most of the day playing horse shoes and watching the little girls fish the creek. Who would of thought these two would come up with a stick in the water equals a fishing poll? I always thought that was something little boys do. LOL
It is always fun to get away with the best friends in the world and just hang in the mountains. Even in the rain and cold – we just learned to ignore Paul and Russ who kept telling us it was a perfect day for rain and bears.
I spent part of tonight looking at a Snowest Magazine.
Seems like it’s been a long summer and I’m ready for snow.
The kids mention it all the time too. Kenzie always asks if I’m taking my snowmobile to the cabin.
She remembers riding the snowmobiles – though I don’t know how – she sleeps 90% of the time she’s on them.
I get “winter sick” this time of year, call me crazy, but I just love it.
We especially enjoy spending time with the family at the cabin in the winter. We can often go for the whole weekend and never see another person. This just isn’t the case in the summer – too many people out camping, riding 4 wheelers etc.
While most are sitting home in the winter, waiting for spring, we’re out snowmobiling enjoying our time with friends and family.
Remember, safety first and always stay on the groomed trail!
World’s best mouse trap – If you have any trouble with mice while camping, you have to try this:
Take a bucket a five gallon bucket and put some water in it (about 2 inches will do).
Then put two holes opposite each other near the top.
Then put a water bottle on a dowel (or arrow)
Put two holes opposite each other near the top of the bucket
Put the dowel through the holes (tape the ends so it can’t come out)
Spread peanut butter all over the bottle. (not pictured)
Important – don’t forget to lean a stick or something against the bucket so the mice can climb up. (not pictured)
The mice will climb up the stick, jump onto the bottle, the bottle will spin, the mouse will fall into the water in the bottom of the bucket.
Rinse, Lather, Repeat.
Almost as fun as a BB gun. (Sorry mice lovers.)
I know – Simple minds are entertained by simple things.
We set one of these traps up at the cabin a few years ago. After dumping out dozens and dozens of mice over several days, we did not see another mouse for at least 2 years.
Now, we are starting to see some again – so it is time to break out the “secret weapon” once again.
My Little Man Chase is growing up so fast that we can’t hardly keep up with him.
He’s the neighborhood bum, always out looking for someone to play with. If there is anyone that wants to have a sleepover, he’s on it. He is always looking for something to do. In fact, almost every time we are on our way home from somewhere he’s asking, “What can we do today?” Of course, mom and dad are looking forward to getting home and relaxing, but Chase always has other things in mind. He’s a goer.
Chase enjoys all types of sports and outdoor activities. He plays baseball, soccer and also wrestles. He loves to go snowmobiling, camping, boating, motorcycle riding, and 4 wheelin. He tells me that he hates hunting, though. “It’s boring.” – I think something is wrong with him???
Chase is a great helper. He’s always wanting to help. He says he likes to work. It doesn’t matter if it’s painting or sweeping the garage floor, he wants to help. Did I mention he’s a goer?
Chase is a thinker, planner. He’s fun to be around and everyone loves his company. He mostly stays out of trouble, except when he’s teasing. He loves to tease. Loves it.
Everyone should have a chance to play a board game with Chase. He’s a cheater. It amazing me how he finds ways to cheat, he just waits for the other players to catch him. It’s almost like he dares them to catch him. I watched him cheat his mom in UNO several times just the other day.
Chase is so smart, it’s almost scary. I can’t wait to see what’s still to come as he grows up. He’s truly fun to be around.
I love my little man. I wish I could pause time and keep him where he is for a while, but I am also looking forward to fun times with him as he grows up. I have more and more fun with him every day.
