Colten and Carson had a blast on the tube down at the lake. They kind of scream like girls at times.  Colten always turns it into a contest of who can stay on the longest. If Carson wants to play, he’ll have to learn what Colten has over the years. Colten usually takes up over half of the tube and leaves the other rider hanging on for dear life. As you’ve probalby guessed, Colten usually wins.

Chase doesn’t get into the tubing much, but he makes up for it on the wakeboard. He gets a lot of looks from other boaters because he is so small when he is out there. He first kneeboarded when he was 4 and was wakeboarding at age 5.

Colten Larsen - Spanish Fork RageColten loves the game of baseball. His typical week consists of 1 or 2 games on Monday night (Rage), Tuesday and Thursday games (Yankees Spanish Fork City League), then 2 more games on Saturday (Rage). Of course we also practice 1-2 times a week in between games.

You know a kid loves to play when you have a schedule like this, then on our way home from practice he turns to me and says, “When we get home, you want to play catch?” Of course, most of the time I don’t feel like doing much, so he goes out and throws a tennis ball against the home for hours.

Colten Larsen - Spanish Fork YankeesIt goes without saying, Colten has improved a ton over the last year.

He loves to any position on the field, but mostly pitcher and catcher.

He is quickly becoming a very good outfielder (even though at his age, most kids think that is where the “not very good kids” play. However, in our Super League, you quickly learn that good kids play out there too!)

He is also improving a lot in his hitting. He is swinging the bat well and improving with every game.

One quality Colten has always possessed is good sportsmanship.

You’ll never see him crying because his team lost. In fact, I don’t know if he even realizes it sometimes.  I credit this to his wrestling experience, once you have lost so much, you don’t get hung up on it.

Keep up the good work buddy.

Colten at BatSomeone down at the ballpark told me this today, “Baseball is a game we love, but it doesn’t always love us back.” It’s so true.  There are few things I’d rather be doing on a Saturday morning, but I start to doubt my sanity when we are getting “baptized by fire” by some of the more experienced teams in our league. We’ve had some tough ones, but we continue

to push forward, improving with each game, and continually reminding ourselves that we do this for fun and nothing else really matters.

Kenzie hiding from the rain

We went up to the Brown’s property up by Scofield. It started raining on our way up Friday and didn’t stop until Sunday. We all had a great time anyways. The worst part was trying to keep the mud out of the trailer and the kids dry. Kenzie had a blast, this was her first summer that she really knew what was going on. We got her a battery 4-wheeler so she could feel like one of the big kids.

What a fire

When we got a break in the rain, we spent time at the camp fire and playing on the slide. We had a fire going all day long to keep the kids dry and warm. The rain did not stop them for a minute, they did they usually hiking, riding 4-wheelers, and motorcycle. They walked down to Tyler and Pauline’s place to play with the kids.

StickyKenz had her first roasted marshmallow and boy did she make a mess of things. She decided really quickly that she liked them cold. All the other kids don’t really care, they ate 2 bags of marshmallows and crackers without blinking an eye. Poor little Peety froze this trip. He is usually a good little camper but we had his hair cut right before we left to save us on the burrs he seems to always find. He need to get him a setup like Chance, he is one spoiled dog, but he deserves it!!Chance taking his nap He looks all sweet and quite here in the pic, but don’t let that fool ya, that dog is the loudest snorer in the world….ok Paul still beats him but they are close. LOL
